Basil’s Folly and Drift – New Small Works Created in Sets
I remember the first time I saw the painting Starry Night. I was so surprised! In my mind, after years of looking at it in books, I had imagined it would be 6 x 8 ft. I found it startling when I saw that it is not exactly tiny, but not as big as I had thought. I love that about work where it could easily be a wall size painting because it feels immense, but in reality—it’s little. Recently, I’ve been busy creating different groups of works on paper that feel vast, but in actuality are quite small.
