Soft Layers, Textural & Cloud-Like Depth
The Chiffon and Blue Chiffon Series incorporates bold “inky” brushwork with dramatic compositions interlaced with organic shapes. The paintings have been worked over and over to achieve soft layers, subtle textures and the illusion of cloud-like depth.
I have been focusing on creating an abstracted perception of light filtering and moving through elements derived from nature…delicate leaves, tangled floral shapes and meshed tree branches. Some of the paintings, when they take on a more turquoise blue appearance, begin to almost look aquatic. I would love to begin painting extra large pieces based off of this series. I am thinking going larger is a must for the future!
